The Nebraska City Police Department currently consists of 14 sworn officers. The Chief of Police is David Lacy, who has over 20 years of experience with the department. Among the administrative personnel there is a Captain and a department secretary. The Department is staffed with knowledgeable personnel, who have a wide variety of specialized training and skills. ![]() America's Seat Belt Campaign Click It or Ticket (CIOT) is the most successful seat belt enforcement campaign ever, helping create the highest national seat belt usage rate of 83 percent. Coast to coast, day or night, the message is simple - Click It or Ticket. Research has found that lap/shoulder seat belts, when used, reduce the risk of fatal injury to front-seat passenger car occupants by 45 percent and the risk of moderate-to-critical injury by 50 percent. In 2008 alone, seat belts saved an estimated 13,250 lives (Traffic Safety Facts: 2008 Data, NHTSA, DOT HS 811153). Increase of Court Fees The original court cost of $45 has increased in Otoe County. As of August 30th court cost has increased to $48.

Click It or Ticket The Nebraska City Police Department recently took part in a traffic grant. The grant focused on locating seatbelt violations and child restraint violations. While the grant was conducted, 42 citations were issued 65 warnings were given. These citations and warnings were not limited only to seatbelt violations, and many were issued for other violations as well. Officers also made 2 arrests for driving under suspension, 1 drug violation arrest, and 5 arrests for outstanding warrants during this grant. |
