![]() The city of Nebraska City took part in the final leg of the torch run for the Special Olympics on July 16th, 2010. The torch was being carried across the nation and traveling to Lincoln, where the Special Olympic games took place. A ceremony took place at the Arbor Lodge State Park prior to the torch making its way the Lincoln. Local law enforcement have been part of Special Olympics fundraisers, which include the torch run, the annual Polar Plunge and other events, since the early '80s. Last year, Nebraska's effort raised about $200,000 for Special Olympics. Worldwide, the Law Enforcement Torch Run raised about $34 million.
